I completed a PhD titled 'Theories of Crisis in Art' from the University of Sydney in 1987. Since 1989 I have lectured in Art Theory at the University of Tasmania.

The Contradictory Nature of our Relation to Beauty in Contemporary Culture

Examines the tension between the de-aestheticisation of art and the aestheticisation of everyday life arguing that it has led to a crisis in the role of beauty in contemporary culture.
